Equipping Mexican Youth

Amigos Para Siempre began with a simple act of connection. When our founder, Elizabeth Witt Walters, first visited the City of Children—a children’s home in Baja, Mexico—she was only 13 years old. During that life-changing trip, she met Flor Monzon, a young girl whose spirit left an indelible mark on her heart.

What started as a childhood friendship grew into something lasting and powerful. Over the years, Elizabeth and Flor stayed connected through letters, visits, and an unwavering bond that spanned distance and time. Their friendship became a symbol of what’s possible when love and support cross borders.

Inspired by their connection, Elizabeth founded Amigos Para Siempre—”Friends Forever”—to create opportunities for other children and families in Mexico to experience the same kind of lasting relationships, hope, and belonging. Today, our work is rooted in that original friendship and fueled by the belief that every person deserves to feel seen, supported, and loved.
